FACILITATION BY:

PAKA KAMENAWA

Paka Kamenawa is a young, humble yet powerful and inspiring medicine man, whose father is an influential Kamenawa political leader (cacique), and whose mother belongs to the Yawanawá tribe. He himself is the leader of the Timbaúba village, where he lives together with his wife Rora, their two children, and around forty other people who form his extended family, divided into six households.

Paka’s path into and through the rich tapestry of his culture’s shamanic traditions began at the age of seven, and by the age of fourteen he was already assisting in his family’s rituals and ceremonies. For almost a decade now he has fully devoted himself to the daily study of this vast cosmology and traditional knowledge under the guidance of his elders, mainly his uncle Rumeya Kuchti, the oldest healer (94) of the Kamenawa people.

Belonging to the direct line of descent from one of the six clans of the Nuke Kui tribe called Kamenawa (Jaguar People), during his in-depth study of the spiritual dimensions and healing plants—mainly undertaken in isolation and communion with the jungle—he has received, among other gifts and tools, the healing force of the jaguar, which he calls upon and shares during his ceremonial work.

Paka is also the founder of the Kameyura group, comprised of dedicated young students who research traditional Nuke Kui chants and translate them into beautiful artistic music by combining them with modern instruments. He is a great teacher of these prayer chants for the youth of the Nuke Kui tribe and serves as a role model and inspiration for the new generation, helping to safeguard their long-kept cultural heritage.

RURA VARINAWA

Both Paka and Rurá are indigenous Amazonian leaders, cultural carriers & musicians from the Kamēnawa lineage. Rora Varinawa is Paka’s wife and the mother of their two children. She comes from the Varinawa clan, known as the People of the Sun. Alongside Paka, she holds the ceremonies and supports in the healing work, offering her beautiful voice, humble presence, and deep knowledge of traditional chants and their guitar renditions. She embodies the feminine force in a graceful and powerful way. Rura and Paka hold retreats and ceremonies with humility, reverence, and deep respect for the traditions they carry and for the people receiving them.

Their offerings invite deep listening, cultural exchange, and a return to what is essential. Their songs are living prayers passed downthrough generations, carrying the spirit, cosmology, and wisdom of the rainforest. As a couple, they share sacred songs and living traditions rooted in relationship with the forest, the ancestors, and the unseen worlds. In their culture, music is not performance. Songs are prayers, teachings, and pathways of remembrance, sung to honor life, restore balance, and maintain connection between people, land, and spirit. Through voice, rhythm, and presence, Paka and Rurá share ancestral music traditionally sung in ceremony, healing, and community gatherings. Their work is a transmission of culture, prayer, and lived knowledge.

MAWA ISĀ

Mawa carries an unbroken wisdom lineage from the last elder generation of the Yawanawa nation. Living in the Amazon in both the Nova Esperanza & Mutum village his entire adult life (as the only non-native person living there at that time) his capacity to bridge the understanding of Amazonian traditional culture, healing songs, cosmovision & way of life is very rare to encounter. Studying at first with the late pajé Yawarani, Mawa was later adopted by the last old pajé Tatá - who would become is main teacher. Tatá gave Mawa Isā this name from their ancient stories, and guided him through the most vigorous dietas, initiations & well-kept secrets of their deeper languages, songs & ways of healing. Mawa is known for the force of his hand-crafted rapéh, vast voice and knowledge of Saiti. Many years ago he also composed the first music to many well-known Saitis like ’Tonguere’ ’Te Nande’ & ’Naveza’. A few years after Tatá passed, Mawa left the village but remains in good relation and alliance.

KIRSTY KA & IMMANUEL

KIRSTY KA is a woman of ceremony, sacred songs and ancestral wisdom. She has been learning with Indigenous leaders and elders around the world for 20 + years. For the last 11 years Kirsty has been dedicated to offering ceremonies and retreats with indigenous wisdom keepers internationally. Kirsty has taken part in initiations in Peru, dietas in the Amazon, vision quests internationally and alongside her partner Immanuel, an accomplished musician, a medicine song carrier and ceremonialist, has been studying the sacred songs, ceremonies traditions and teachings of the Noke Koi, Yawanawa and other lineages. For years, Immanuel and Kirsty have brought together a global community, both online and in person, to study ancestral traditions, Indigenous lifeways, and the responsible facilitation of sacred and ceremonial spaces. Kirsty and Immanuel are honoured to bring community to the Noke Koi, supporting individual and collective journeys of healing and awakening.

ANNA MARIA MAGDALENA

Anna Maria has walked a path of ceremonial study since the age of 18. She has always been deeply passionate about understanding human evolution and its interconnectedness with the Earth Mother and her elemental forces. Through the many roads of her path she has apprenticed with various indigenous grandmothers, as well as elders within the Mexica, Lakota & Andean nations. Anna Maria is a Sundancer, Moondancer, Vision Quester & Temazcalera - holding a grounded, nurturing safe space from the foundation of a Mother’s love.  Anna Maria is the wife of Mawa, since becoming a mother, she has rooted deeper back into her ancestral medicine of the North -as well as studying in-depth Physiological Maternal Care with the Mexican midwifery lineage of Innate Traditions. She believes that a mother- family-centred way of caretaking life is key to thriving communities and the restoration of balance on Mother Earth. Anna Maria will be primarily mothering their daughter Miranda throughout our journey together, while still be part of the spaceholding team when possible.
